5 April Fools That Nearly Had Us This Year

Here at Bewonder* we fully embrace April Fools’ Day, and the good, bad and plain wrong creative pranks that come with it. April 1st is the perfect excuse for brands to reveal their weirdest brainstorm outcome and share their own “fake news” in an attempt to prank audiences. We’ve rounded up our favourite April Fools’ of 2019...
  1. Sainsbury’s announced it would stock a limited-edition pink avocado, aptly named “Rosa-Vo”. We’re sure there were plenty of Instagram-obsessed millennials that were sad to find out that this one wasn’t true…

  1. River Island revealed it would take ‘twinning with your mini’ to the next level with this supersize jumper. Tying in with its recent #ThisIsFamily campaign, the jumper fits everyone in the family, apart from the dog! Missed a trick there, River Island…

  1. Primark announced the global roll-out of a sock vending machine, designed for those who only buy their socks from Primark and want to grab them on-the-go. It’s just a shame it’s an April Fools’ as these would help us save a lot of money on clothes we don’t need!

  1. Probably the greatest scent in the world? This April Fools, Strongbow announced the launch of the first fragrance “Fruit Noir by Strongbow”. Inspired by the popular Dark Fruit cider, Strongbow claimed this was a fragrance that “Men and women across the UK can carry with them everywhere they go; to the office, to the gym, on public transport, at home in their pyjamas.” I think we’ll pass on this one…

  1. McDonald’s announced the launch of the limited-edition milkshake sauce pots for the more experimental foodie. Available in banana, strawberry, chocolate and vanilla flavour, the pots were “perfect for dipping chips into”, apparently! YUK
