The Challenge
It’s no secret that Cambridge is known for its large student population, but also prides itself with a diverse group of people with a variety of interests, which goes along with hundreds of non-profit groups. Through mere observation and listening to our community, we identified that there was a clear need for space. Space for gathering, for studying, or sometimes a space for simply taking a break from shopping and needing a place to relax.
Our Solution
Inspired by the Cambridge Botanical Gardens and Cambridge University Library, The Grafton created The Campus – ONE brand, TWO spaces – where the people of Cambridge could come together to learn, work, play and experience; a place to Escape and Discover. We introduced Escape as our a free-to-use bookable community space for local groups to utilise, and Discover as a work/study space including a library book exchange, variety of board games, free WIFI usage and charging facilities, a recycling station in partnership with Oxfam, plus a free water refill station.
Our results
- 60+ local groups over 7 months
- 11% increase in web visits
- 13% footfall increase from young professional and students
